I found this blog through Google and although it is a couple of years old, there are still people in trouble as a result of the actions of Demara Consulting. I am one of them. The CRA has assessed gross negligence penalties on my 2011 tax return to the tune of 175,000$. No I'm not making this up.
ReplyDeleteIt was little comfort to learn that the principals of Demara were convicted of Fraud and tax evasion and yet I was still being penalized to such a degree that bankruptcy is on the horizon. I will not go on at length as to my personal situation or the struggles I've encountered in dealing with the CRA. It has not been an experience worthy of repeating.
Suffice to say that I will move on with my life, and work hard to become an advocate for taxpayer rights and protection. Good luck to anyone who has been caught a situation similar to mine. I have had little good luck with the CRA and am doubtful I ever will. Karma will prevail on the principals of Demara and I will take some comfort in knowing that even though they may try this again, I will not be part of their scheme
